Our Graduate Program in Mechanical Sciences (PCMEC) achieved a score of 7.0 in the CAPES evaluation for the 2020–2024 period, a maximum rating that attests to the academic maturity, scientific relevance, and institutional excellence of the Mechanical Engineering Program at the University of Brasília. This distinction is particularly noteworthy given that, within the entire Engineering III area, only two postgraduate programs attained the maximum score during this period: PCMEC at UnB and the Mechanical Engineering Program at PUC-Rio. Such recognition positions PCMEC among the elite of Brazilian postgraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering. The score of 7.0 reflects the outstanding scientific contributions of the faculty, underpinned by innovative and strategic research lines aligned with contemporary engineering challenges and the frontiers of knowledge. Equally significant is the training of highly qualified human resources through a curriculum of advanced, technically rigorous courses, preparing master’s and doctoral students for excellence in both academia and industry. In addition, the program consistently produces dissertations and theses of high technological and scientific quality, accompanied by publications of notable impact, visibility, and international reach-testimony to the collaborative work of faculty and students. This strong global presence reaffirms PCMEC’s commitment to international standards of excellence and the generation of relevant, transformative knowledge. The achievement of a 7.0 thus consolidates a trajectory of academic rigor, innovation, and internationalization, reaffirming the strategic role of the Mechanical Sciences Program at UnB in advancing Brazil’s scientific and technological development and in training the next generation of leaders in Mechanical Engineering.
